BLACKPIPES, You seem to be very well versed with the Hobbits, If I have everything tightened down properly, my hobbit will not idle as the variator just moves with the fly wheel. If I have the main nut loosened its allowed to spin but I’m afraid it will be damaged from spinning off kilter/fly off and break my leg. How is it supposed to work?

You seem to be very well versed with the Hobbits, If I have everything tightened down properly, my hobbit will not idle as the variator just moves with the fly wheel. If I have the main nut loosened its allowed to spin but I'm afraid it will be damaged from spinning off kilter/fly off and break my leg. How is it supposed to work?

wow, that’s not supposed to do that. When you say the main nut, do you mean the large 20something mm nut that holds the ramp plate on or the lil 14mm guy that holds the whole thing on the crank? It could be that the bearings in your variator are seized and therefore not allowing the vario to spin freely of the crank. Pull your variator off and check inside to see if the bearing inside the clutch bell is spinning smoothly.
